JOE O’DONNELL

Playing Career:

Grew up in Wilmington, NC and now lives in Raleigh, NC. Graduated from NC State University with a Biological Sciences degree with a concentration in Human Biology. Played baseball from 2013-2018 at NC State. Finished career as the all-time leader in program history in appearances, with 95, and third in career saves with 18. Third Team All-ACC and NCBWA Third Team All American during redshirt senior season.

Named a semifinalist for the National Pitcher of the Year Award, presented by the College Baseball Foundation and a Midseason Stopper of the Year candidate. Recorded 11 saves with a 1.48 ERA over 24 appearances, with 40 strikeouts in 30.1 innings pitched. Became the closer during redshirt junior season, finishing the season with 7 saves and a 3.91 ERA, with 59 strikeouts in 48.1 innings pitched. Earned ACC Pitcher of the Week for a complete game performance against Notre Dame on March 18, 2016. Started six games with a 4.02 ERA and 3-2 record before missing the bulk of the 2016 season due to injury. Went 7-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 52 IP over 25 appearances, all in relief, with 54 strikeouts to 20 walks in 2015. Made 15 relief appearances for a 3-0 record and 4.13 ERA as a freshman.
